About MIFD

The Milan Institute of Fashion & Design is the dream child of the founder. After a successful career in Journalism for 7 years, she pursued her education in Fashion Designing. Apart from teaching experience with the Italian Fashion School – Instituto Moda Burgo, she has worked for more than 10 years in Fashion Industry in India and Dubai.

MIFD was dreamt when she took her flight to Milan, Italy to pursue her education in Fashion with the prestigious Instituto Moda Burgo, Milan, Italy. She wanted to start a Institute where students of any age group, with passion to pursue Fashion and Design, can learn art of their choice and interest.

MIFD aims to mentor students with international standards. Instructors follow the custom program of individually building the students talent with one-to-one teaching method. The aim of the institute is to train students from science, arts, commerce graduation or any background or age groups to excel and sharpen their skills in their subject of passion.

MIFD courses include Fashion Designing, Dress Designing, Costume Designing, Beach Wears, Jewellery Designing, Shoe Designing, Art of Make Up and so on. The Institute nurtures talent and valuable ideas and encourage students through innovative experimentations. From first day to final assessment, MIFD will provide students an environment to
master the chosen craft.

Affiliated with IMB, Italy and IDA, India, the Institute provides a wide range of courses in Fashion, Tailoring, Beauty and more – Diploma and Degree courses. Through Fashion Designing Course, MIFD trains students on the complete Fashion Design process, from creation and innovation to comprehensive technical expertise. Institute trains students to become leaders in the global Fashion Design industry by completing the Fashion Designing courses after 10th or 12th.

MIFD focus to connect fashion industry with our students through industry workshops, competitions and fashion shows. It will help students to get more practical exposure about industry and market. The institute will conduct study tours, fashion shows and industry visit to update students.

Fashion Design

Fashion has always been a significant part of culture and society. Fashion designing is one of the sought-after fields of study which offers a unique combination of a creatively fulfilling and financially rewarding career!

It deals with designing and creating clothes and other accessories. Fashion designers innovate and reinvent by studying old and contemporary trends and creating aesthetic designs.

Students can chose from Short, Certificate or Diploma courses in Fashion Designing with MIFD.

Fashion Designing courses are offered in Basic, Intermediate and Advance level courses.

Pattern Making

Would you like to make clothes to your fit? Then learn the techniques of pattern drafting with body measurements to create paper patterns that fit your body perfectly.

This is a practical guided aim to teach the fundamentals of Pattern drafting from scratch, by creating students own bespoke body block. Basic pattern are the foundation and template of every outfit students will ever create.

Methods of pattern making, types of pattern, lines, seams, notches and grain lines. From taking measurement to making pattern to cutting and stitching student will learn dress making. Students can learn both European and Indian style pattern making

Students can choose from Short, Certificate or Diploma courses in pattern making with MIFD.

The courses are offered in Basic, Intermediate and Advance level courses.

Dress Making

MIFD will train students to own individual requirements. All students are given individual and personal attention.

We specialize in Practical dressmaking and designing skills and teaching the technical aspects of cutting fitting and finishing garments.

Students with little or no previous experience can within 4 weeks can proudly wear dress they create.

Basic to advance designing from children to adult as well as short to long courses with flexible courses to suit their own interest.

Dress Making courses are offered in short and Advance courses. Students can select according to their needs.

Jewellery Designing

Get ready to turn your inspirations into designs with the Jewelry Design course. You’ll learn drafting, shading, design theory, how to illustrate shape and form using several mediums, and more.

Develop sources of inspiration, understand jewelry design theory and artistry, Illustrate shape, form, and texture of metal.

Render faceted gems, pearls, colored metals, etc Learn traditional drafting techniques. Develop motifs to create sketches of jewelry objects. Create a portfolio of class projects and custom designs that is ready for presentation to potential clients and employers

Shoe Designing

Students without design experience will acquire an important foundation of the major components of shoe design, production and marketing. The curriculum is designed to provide both fashion design students and those with no design experience with the fundamentals of shoe design and development.

You’ll learn how footwear goes from Brief to Box while thinking about the development process through multiple different lenses, including fit, function, profitability, sustainability, manufacturability, delivering products on time, and on design. Understanding manufacturing processes, production pattern making, material usage and regulations, factory placement, sustainability and product costing analysis is imperative in making creative design decisions. This course will introduce shoe designers to key factors that have a direct impact on the production and distribution of footwear products.

Fabric Ornamentation

The purpose of surface ornamentation is to beautify the appearance of a fabric or a material. The variety of beautiful clothes and other accessories we have today go through different processes. The colours we see and the textures we feel are the result of such processes.

Surface ornamentation deals with all the processes that produce the end result, to make the surface of a fabric decorative, attractive and enhancing its feel as per its purpose.

This course is beneficial for anyone who wants to understand different surface ornamentation procedures right from the very basics. The course is bifurcated into different topics for ease of choosing whatever the students prefer to learn. Smocking, Bead work, Hand Embroidery, Ribbon embroider, Machine embroidery, Bridal Flower Making so on.

Art of Makeup
